Special Supporters

With this page we want to give a very warm thank you to our special supporters!

Without the help and support of the Department of Civil, Geo and Environmental Engineering of TUM and the Student Union we would not be able to organize the IGSM in Munich.

The Department of Civil, Geo and Environomental Engineering of TUM

Munich is much more than just the famous “beer festival” Oktoberfest and Hofbräuhaus. I am happy to welcome all national and international geodesy students participating at the IGSM 2016 at Technical University of Munich (TUM), thus being able to experience Munich in early summer, one of the most beautiful times of the year. We are happy to host this XXIX. annual international students meeting, which is an important opportunity not only to discuss geodetic theory and methods, but also to establish, foster and further strengthen networks and contacts among geodesy students world-wide, and to get to know the different systems established and realized at international universities. The “Munich profile” in geodesy established at the Department of Civil, Geo and Environmental Engineering of TUM, i.e. 10 professors covering the complete spectrum of geodetic disciplines ranging from satellite geodesy, via photogrammetry & remote sensing, carthography, geoinformatics to land management, is a unique situation. It provides a very good basis for high-quality education in geodesy and its manifold applications on a wide range of spatial and temporal scales. This is complemented by facilities and labs such as the Geodetic Observatory in Wettzell, one of the core sites of the Global Geodetic Observing System (GGOS), and the Geodetic Laboratory performing various kinds of precise instrument calibration and development of surveying strategies and tools. Our local organizing team has set up for you a very interesting and diversified program, a tasty mélange of professional and cultural elements, giving you the chance to get deep insight into geodetic education and infrastructure at TUM, but also the specific cultural characteristics of Bavaria.

In this sense I wish you an active, fascinating and exciting week at TUM and a nice stay in Munich, the Bavarian metropolis,

Roland Pail

Faculty director

Student Council of Civil, Environemental and Geo Engineers of TUM

The Student Council of Civil, Environmental and Geo Engineers is very happy that this year’s IGSM is taking place in Munich.

As representatives of the Geodetic Students at the Technical University in Munich we are looking forward to exchanging experiences from all over the world but also getting to know you in person and learning about your countries and traditions.

We are looking forward to welcome you in Munich!
